We welcomed our newest addition to Springmead yesterday! Bailey is our therapy dog and school dog provided by Pets as Therapy. Bailey will be a regular visitor around school and the children already love him. 

Reception were visited by a chicken today. After having the chicks for 10 days, it was a lovely way to see the changes from a chick to a chicken. The children were very interested to see how different the chicken looks to a chick. 

Thank you to everyone who entered the Springmead Eggshibition this year. As always the entries are fabulous and it is great to see the children using our Creativity learning value. 

Congratulations to our winning entries from Zachary, Penelope, Carter, Jake, Abigail and Olivia and a huge well done to our School Ambassadors for organising and judging the event. 

Today, Years 5 and 6 have had a hands-on Science session where they have observed and then dissected sheep hearts. Children were able to name many of the parts and saw the valves, aorta and 'heart strings' to name a few in real life. They were also able to compare the sizes and thickness of the muscles on each side of the heart. Almost all children participated and some children even said that it was something they wanted to do every day! 

Our English workshops were a great success this week and many parents and carers found them useful and informative in how to help pupils with their learning at home. Maple class have been fully immersing themselves in their text The Gingerbread Man. The children made and baked gingerbread people this week. I am sure you will agree that the results look very tasty!

On Tuesday 23rd January, KS1 had an immersive day exploring what life was like during 1666. The children had to work on many jobs to earn a living, help put the fire out and sift through ashes to see if they could find any remains of the shops. All the children had a brilliant day and learnt so much about The Great Fire of London. 

Over the past three weeks Years 1-6 have had the pleasure of a class football session from the Tottenham outreach team. The children thoroughly enjoyed their time in the sessions learning/ recapping the different ways you can dribble a ball.

"I felt happy during the session as I am a Tottenham fan!" - a Year 4 child said when reflecting on the session.

On Thursday, we were delighted to host Jonathan Duff, Department for Education Regional Director East of England at Springmead. Jonathan wanted to see Spiral Trust in action and the incredible progress Springmead has made.
